Blow up Megaton?

Close to the very beginning of the game you have the choice to either diffuse the bomb in Megaton or disarm it. I chose to disarm but now i'm wondering what would've happened if i had blown it up.

If you blow up megaton you get an apartment in tenpenny tower if you don't blow up megaton you get the abandoned house. If you're going to blow up megaton wait until after you've found rivet city, that way you'll have some where to buy ammo and health.

You also might want to wait until after you finish the wasteland survival guide quest because after you blow up megaton the owner of craterside supplies is ghoulified.
